-
Parents and caregivers have the greatest influence in learning; all families can enhance their children’s development, with the necessary supports and resources.
-
As Infant Development Specialists, we are not the main agent of change in a child’s life, instead our primary role is to facilitate development by supporting caregivers.
-
We believe that family and provider relationship is characterized by respect, trust, honesty, and open communication.
-
It is not to be assumed or expected for all families to have the same routines in child rearing practices. Therefore, services are to be dynamic and individualized to reflect the child’s and family’s preferences, learning styles, and cultural beliefs.
-
Relationships and connections are the foundation for learning. Children need to feel valued, trusted, and supported by adults.
-
Littles learn through day-to-day natural experiences with familiar people, given that they are allowed to participate and collaborate to their maximal potential, with as minimal guidance as needed.
-
Young children also learn through play; and true play is meant to be self-chosen, self directed, intrinsically motivated, in a non-stressed state of mind.
-
Children need to grow in environments where they are allowed to move, sing, observe, discuss, read, play, and create.
