Hello, My Name is Monica
Bilingual Pediatric SLP
Infant Program Director

I am a south San Diego native, Pediatric Bilingual Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP),
with 10+ years in the field, and over 15 years of experience working with little ones. Being a
mom of four, is a personal asset that positively contributes to my professional growth and
service delivery style. I founded Hablemos Inc. with the goal of delivering the quality of service that I would want for my own children.
I hold a Master’s Degree in Speech and Language Pathology, from San Diego State University; with a Bilingual Certificate in the field. Prior to starting Hablemos, I worked in school districts in south San Diego, where I specialized in preschoolers. As many of our clients, I was raised in San
Ysidro. As the only Native Spanish speaker student in my Master’s program, and the first San Ysidro High School Alumna to become an SLP, I promised myself I would always serve the communities that needed me the most.
Growing up with a younger sister with hearing loss and youngest brother born deaf, I was exposed to the world of Early Intervention from a very early age. As first generation immigrants and learners of English as a second language, both of my siblings have worked against the odds, and to this day continue to surprise those around them. Fast forward to my own babies with developmental differences, I have shed tears of joy, fear, frustration, excitement, and humbling gratitude. My personal walk on the other side of therapy, as an older sister and a mom, lead me to building Hablemos Inc. I am honored to have the opportunity to support and guide other families in their own journeys.
